Day 3 (am) – 23 July 2014 Auschwitz – Nazi Concentration Camp Today our pilgrims had the very moving experience of visiting Auschwitz At least a million people, the vast majority of whom were Jews, died at Auschwitz
Amongst the Others Saint Maximilian Kolbe (statue at Westminster Abbey, London) In 1941 Max Kolbe, a Conventual Franciscan friar, was Killed in Auschwitz concentration camp after offering to take the place of a condemned man. He was canonised in 1981 by Pope John Paul II, who described him as “The Patron Saint of Our Difficult Century” |
