At our final lunchtime recital of the year, Maria Razumovskaya gave a wonderful performance of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.
Many of us, perhaps, knew the music better in the orchestral arrangement by Ravel, but here we were treated to the original piece for piano, as originally written by the composer.
And what a magnificent rendition by Maria, with splendidly sensitive interludes interwoven with energetically forceful passages, in which she was able to make full use of her excellent pianistic skills.
Maria’s highly appreciative audience greeted the finale with a very well-deserved standing ovation.
Thank you Maria, our spirits were greatly enriched by this superb music.
